Any chemical will get contaminated especially inside a engine with heat cycles and combustion gasses entering the system. The Evans coolant is touted as a "Lifetime" coolant but a lifetime hasn't been tested yet and when it first was introduced it was recommended that it was replaced every 5 years. That's a good thing but that's why anti corrosive chemicals are added to ethylene glycol based coolants. The Evans coolant boils (or doesn't boil) until it reaches high temps and because of the lack of water, it doesn't corrode metal parts especially aluminum and the corrosion caused by dissimilar metals. I don't need my engine to run any hotter than it does and mainly because of the hot soak I have when it comes to a restart. It is interesting that Evans says that the cooling system will operate at a higher temperature but they really can't tell how much. There is interesting facts and opinions through out the thread. They have some weird cooling systems but it isn't the answer all for all older cars. If you are really interested read through these posts from guys that own older pre and post war cars. If you compare the one time cost of EVANS to the cost of replacing regular antifreeze every few years, it's cheaper in the long run.Īnd $50 a gallon is no problem for Jay Leno. It's nice to know this stuff will stop them from corroding. We're running aluminum heads, water pumps, intakes, and radiators. I probably wouldn't even run an overflow tank now except it's required at the track. You can remove the radiator cap without ever having that pressure build up that would turn your car into a geyser. That means I don't have to worry about the radiator puking out fluid at the drags anymore if I start to run hot. I put it in my Duster and Barracuda because it doesn't boil over. It isn't supposed to break down and fill the bottom of the block's water passages with crud like antifreeze that never got changed. Unlike regular antifreeze that is supposed to be changed every few years, the EVANS is supposed to never need changing. My plan is to put it in each one of our cars. I've got a couple of cases of EVANS waterless sitting in the garage.
